Lecture
by Gar Alperovitz
The very first book I wrote—my Ph.D. thesis, basically—was on the bombing of Hiroshima. An odd place to start. The puzzlement for me was why this country and its leaders, knowing there were alternatives—which is now established as fact—nevertheless went ahead with those bombings.

Introduction by Susan Witt,
Executive Director,
E. F. Schumacher Society
It is my pleasure to introduce Michael Shuman, who is perhaps the local economic movement’s greatest asset. He has a knack for determining the multiple policies and projects needed to build local economies. With his clarity of thinking, Michael recognizes that to make meaningful change requires structural change in our institutions themselves.

This is a pamphlet that should be read by every Christian. The domination of economics throughout life is the outstanding characteristic of modern society. Every concept of economics in industry today is rooted in materialism, destroying our spiritual life. This is still god's world and must be run in accordance with His Will and Purpose.
"He that hath an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the Churches." (Rev. 3.13).
